LEADERS

Elder led, deacon served, congregationally governed.

Wether you call your leaders overseers, bishops, pastors, or elders, the Bible teaches they are exactly the same thing. They share the same level of authority, and there should be a plurality of them.

This should not be surprising to the Bible-reading Christian. The apostles planted churches with multiple elders (Acts 14:23), and they addressed churches with the expectation that each had multiple elders (Titus 1:5; Phil 1:1; Jas 5:14; Acts 20:17, 28; 1 Pet 5:1).

God's Word consistency teaches that leadership does not belong to a single pastor; rather there is to be a plurality and parity of pastors to properly lead each church in integrity and maturity. Fireside is committed to the Biblical model of shared leadership in the local church to facilitate accountability, biblical fidelity, and protect the church.
